Memorial day in Austin!

BBQ! Beer! Beer pong! Alabama slammers! College life for you when your friends 
take you out! I've got this new job bar backing and it really kicked my ass! I 
did make good money though! I've been taking bartending classes, and they are 
making us remember and learn all of these old drinks. Who's going to order a 
Manhattan these days anyways? I'm not learning too many relative recipes or 
tricks for modern day bartending at this school.  Besides the fact that our 
instructor is old as dirt and doesn't even know what beer pong is or what 
shotgunning a beer means.  I think I'm ready for my certificate already! Time to 
make the big bucks!

The Walking Dead, Season 3 Please!

The Walking Dead may be a drama, but it really is funny!!! Can't wait for season three! Season two's finality was a great cliff hanger. Shayne was a perfect villian. Sad to see him die off!  Our instructor for my bartending class has many references to the show, but than again I think he is obsessed with zombies. He has a recipe book for Halloween drinks that are apparently to "die for". Hopefully, he shares it with us. Austin Comic Con is in October, so maybe I can find a sick bartending gig for it at the convention center.

Bartending School Rocks! We learned about ciders today. I never actually had it, but we taste tested 10 different kinds today.... I really enjoyed this specific cider on my pallet. Newtown Pippin Hard Cider: The latest creation from Original Sin is part of the new trend of single-varietal brews. Traditionally, cider is blended to achieve the right combination of sweetness, body and acidity. The Newtown Pippin apple, which was grown in Thomas Jefferson’s and George Washington’s orchards and introduced to England by Benjamin Franklin, needs no help. This product is bright and crisp, with notes of juicy apple and a subtly sweet finish.

So I made a life decision a couple days ago when I was at the Tavern out with some friends Watching the Ranger's vs Athletic's game. I found myself starring at the bartender's tip jar that is a bucket overflowing with a variety of bills. I asked him if he got to keep all of it, but he said he splits it with the cocktail girl and when he works late swing he splits it with the closing bartender. At Starbucks we split our tips with 3-4 other people and sometimes We walk a way with maybe $5. Anyway, I ask the guy how to get into bartending and he tells me that if I'm looking for a new job they were looking to to hire a Barback for the weekend and college night. Since, my shifts got cut to 3 days a week since the semester ended who was I to pass up a chance for another job. Everyone seems pretty chill in this place except the cocktail waitress. She seemed pretty edgy. The next bartender comes on to her shift as I was filling out my application. She is hott mind you! She asks me if I had ever worked behind a bar. I told her I work at starbucks.... Turns out she was the bar manager and tells me training is on Thursday... She gave me a list of stuff I had to bring in and told me to wear non slip shoes. I don't even know what a Barack does?!
